Privacy notice

Draft for owner review. Have it checked against the laws that apply to you and your learners before relying on it.

What we collect

Only what the service needs: your email address, a display name and a password (stored as a one-way hash). If you turn on two-step verification we store an encrypted authenticator secret and hashed recovery codes. We record your lesson progress, bookmarks and quiz answers so you can resume and review them.

We do not ask for passport or seafarer ID numbers, medical information, vessel positions or employment details.

Security records

To protect accounts we keep hashed login attempt records and short-lived rate-limit counters. These do not store your email address or IP address in readable form.

Cookies

We use one essential, HTTP-only cookie to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

Who processes data

The site runs on Cloudflare (hosting and DNS), Heroku (application and database) and Upstash (background job delivery).

Your choices

You can ask for your account and learning data to be exported or deleted by contacting the site owner at the address shown on the contact page once published.
